Kshitij was training for long-distance races and could not find supplements in India that matched what he could get abroad. Shreya is a chemical engineer who had spent years in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including antibiotics, where the dose on the label is the dose in the capsule and nobody treats that as negotiable.

Between them the problem was easy to name. Indian shelves were full of products nobody could evaluate: proprietary blends that hide how much of anything you are getting, doses well below the ones used in the studies being cited, and ingredient forms chosen because they are cheap rather than because they absorb.

They started The Stack in 2024 to make a small number of products they could defend, ingredient by ingredient.

Making honest products turned out to be the easier half. The harder problem was that nobody could check us, or anyone else. Clean and science-backed are marketing words. Every brand uses them, including the ones with a quarter of the dose the research is based on.

So the questions kept coming, and they were all versions of the same question: what does this label actually mean? We answered them one at a time, until it became obvious that answering them one at a time was the wrong shape of solution.

Supplement Decoder reads the ingredients on an Indian supplement label against published research. For each one it gives you the dose that was actually studied, which form absorbs and which does not, what the evidence genuinely supports, and how it all lands in an Indian diet.

It is free, it carries no advertising, and it sells nothing. That is deliberate. A tool for checking supplement labels is worth nothing if it has something to sell you at the end of it.
